The National Cancer Institute's (NCI) designation of The Ohio State University as a Comprehensive Cancer Center reflects the commitment of the University to support a broad and diverse cancer program addressing prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The designation requires that we be successful in obtaining an NCI Cancer Center Support Grant and in meeting criteria to serve as community, regional, and/or national resources conducting research and education. The Center's ultimate goal is meeting the Healthy People 2000 objective of reducing cancer incidence, reducing cancer mortality, reducing cancer morbidity, and improving the quality of life.

Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center
Designated as a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Center is one of only 35 facilities nationwide to attain this recognition. By seeking treatment at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, people with cancer have access to new kinds of therapies years in advance of their general availability, as well as a full spectrum of conventional approaches. Additionally, they're assured that a multidisciplinary team of highly trained cancer specialists will wage a concentrated attack on the disease--sensitive to the physical, emotional and economic impact of the illness on patients and families. Located on the UCI Medical Center campus, the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is affiliated with the College of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. As a university-based facility, it offers the expertise of a scientific community that has earned an international reputation for its work in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
