BCP Cover Collage Fall 2002What’s a Woman To Do?
Alternatives to Premarin & Provera

Instructor: Elizabeth Schultz, DO, FACOG
Oct. 8, 2002,  6-9pm, $29

With a female physician, who is a clinical gynecologist and hormone replacement specialist/functional medicine specialist, you can participate in a question-and-discussion session on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) alternatives. As reported in a July 22 report on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, the medical community has found that the use of Premarin® and Provera® may lead to a variety of complications, and in some cases, cancer. The good news is that there are less potentially dangerous alternatives to these risk-filled hormone treatments. Through an active dialogue, the benefits of a personalized hormonal replacement will be discussed. The alternatives to be discussed go beyond simple prevention and encompass a woman’s physiological, cognitive, emotional, and physical functions, and can actually lead to enhanced organ function, improved organ reserve, reduced chronic conditions, and increased life expectancy. As a 54-year old woman, Dr. Schultz is walking in your shoes and sharing your concerns!

With guidance from physicians who are trained in functional medicine and who espouse health treatments that embrace nutritionally based philosophies, you will develop a personal plan aimed at averting the chronic diseases of aging. You will learn to recognize the signs of unhealthy aging and you'll see how your diet and life choices deeply affect how you age. Through the use of lectures, speakers, personal surveys, and appraisals/testing, a personal portrait of your own health will emerge. You will learn how to begin your own journey toward OptimalAging. It's never too late or too early to make a positive difference. The instructors are practicing physicians in Watkinsville. Each has a special interest in functional medicine and nutritionally based care.
