Dr. Schultz's "Power Shake"

|
Many of my patients have asked me for
directions for my "Power Shake". So, here it is! The basic
ingredients. You have to change the ingredients to fit your individual needs.
Everyone is special and so too your supplemental needs. Many times I use the shake
during the week and forgo it on the weekends, allowing my system a rest. Do this
especially at first, allowing your body to adjust. After a time, you will not
"feel" right forgoing the shake. Your system will have adapted to the
OptimalNutrition!

Introduction
I don't remember how I first started doing this.
I think it was just a memory from med school. One of my class mates use to get up
every morning and start her day with some yogurt-vitamin drink.
When I got really exhausted these past few years and began
"cleaning up" my internal environment...this "power shake" popped into
my head.....probably spurred on by something I read...days long gone!
Just remember this is MY power shake....what I mean by
that is, you will have to play around with products until you find the right combination
for yourself.
I am allergic to soy!! So all soy products are out for ME.
They may be ok for YOU. It would be better if soy is ok for you, because it is one
of those phytoestrogens and is good for women peri and postmenopausal. I wish I
could use them.
I passed my allergy on to daughter #2.
She wound up in a peds ER with 4+ blood in her stools when I had to stop breast
feeding her and put her on a formula that I later found out was soy-based! The peds
resident ask me what to do because he didn't know what was causing the blood. My
baby was grey, pooing blood and the doctor didn't know "nothing." I took
her home and while I was feeding her clear liquids, began thinking about what she was
eating! Logical....what goes in, comes out...so I put her on the formula my
daughter #1 had no problem with...and behold her problems resolved. Later comparing
the formulas, I realized the "soy" problem!
Daughter #2 continued for about 3 to 5 years to break out in hives for
no apparent reason what-so-ever. Now looking back on all of this
"goings-on," and realizing she has type A blood, she had probably
destroyed her "brush boarder" (the gut-projections that absorb the nutrients
from the gut) and her gut was allowing "allergens" to cross into her blood,
showing up as hives on her skin.
Well, this was not a double blinded, crossed over study proving or
disproving my thoughts as a mother, but it was good enough for me. Today, she's ok.
The power of the body to heal.

The Power Shake
- If you have a medical problem, be sure to check with your physician
before making this shake part of your daily nutritional intake.
In a blender add the following and blend. Pour into a glass and
drink. Enjoy!:
 | 1 banana (or any other fruit you can
tolerate)
|
 | 8 oz Yogurt
|
 | Rice milk (you can use soy milk) enough to
bring this up to 2 cups - I have found "Westbrae Natural Rice Beverage, Plain"
and "Rice Dream" to be the most in consistency like skim milk.
