I am first a 63 year old woman, mother, wife who has taken bio-identical hormones for over 20 years. I am also an Osteopathic Physician since 1979 and am Board Certified in OB/GYN from the AMA since 1986.

In 1999 I graduated from Dr. Jeffery Bland's “Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP)” from the Institute of Functional Medicine and have been a practicing Biological-Systems/Functional Medicine Specialist ever since.

Premarin/Provera has never crossed my lips and I have been forced to prescribed the drug only three times by patients in the past. No one in my present practice takes it. I am very happy to offer my services to those patients who are looking for biologically compatible therapies to maximize their genetic potentials and modulate those biological systems not functioning to their optimal capacities.

I also do male hormone replacement in conjunction with my husband Dr. Kirk Melville. We believe in OptimalAging and use HRT as part of that puzzle. HRT replacement is not a way to make money for us; it is a way to maintain health.

I too believe like Suzanne Somers, hormones are the glue that holds us together. I wish to thank her and Life Extension Foundation for recognizing my life long involvement in this movement. We are truly blessed with such an articulate and energized woman to help us unify this grass roots movement. It was our "baby-boomer" generation that changed the way babies were born and allowed men into the delivery suite; and it will be our "baby-boomer" generation again to change the way we grow older allowing men and women to OptimalAge together.
