3 MONTHS BEFORE
EXAM:
1. Time limit you need to wait if you have had
breast surgery, completed chemotherapy and/or radiation before having a
thermogram.
1 WEEK BEFORE EXAM:
1. Avoid natural or artificial tanning.
36 HOURS BEFORE EXAM:
1. Reschedule your appointment if you have a high
fever during this time span.
24 HOURS BEFORE EXAM:
1. Refrain from Jacuzzis, saunas, steam baths and
hot or cold packs.
2. Avoid any physical exam or compression of your
breasts professionally, i.e.. breast self-examination, ultrasound, or
mammogram or unprofessionally, i.e.. sexual stimulation or nursing.
DAY OF EXAM:
1. Avoid shaving your underarms, applying
deodorants or antiperspirants, powders, creams, or lotions on your arms or
chest on the day of your thermogram.
2 HOURS BEFORE EXAM:
1. Refrain from tobacco products and caffeinated
coffee, tea or sodas
1 HOUR BEFORE EXAM:
1. Refrain from baths, showers, or exercise.
PRIOR TO IMAGING:
1. Arrive 30 minutes early to your appointment to
acclimate to our indoor temperature especially if the outside temperature
has caused you to become over heated or chilled.
2. Remove large neck jewelry. Small necklaces are
allowed. They actually enable the thermogram technician to sharpen the
focus of your thermogram.
