Getting
Started:
Why UltraInflamX™?
Your healthcare practitioner at NEWS has recommended that you use UltraInflamX in
conjunction with a specially designed dietary plan outlined below. UltraInflamX is a medical food. It is made up of a combination of
selected nutrients in amounts that nutritionally support metabolic
(biochemical) functions within your body. Your practitioner has determined
that some of your health challenges are associated with an inflammatory
process. UltraInflamX is formulated to provide specific vitamins,
minerals, and other food factors (called phytonutrients) to support the
body’s ability to decrease these inflammatory processes.
What is UltraInflamX?
UltraInflamX is a nutritionally fortified, vegetarian powdered beverage
drink mix designed for nutritional support of patients who have chronic
inflammatory conditions of the lungs, joints, and intestinal tract.
UltraInflamX can be used as part of a comprehensive elimination or 4R™
diet program as well as nutritional support for patients involved in an
anti-inflammatory lifestyle program.
What is a medical food?
UltraInflamX is a medical food. A medical food is made from extracted or
combined food components to be consumed under the supervision of a
healthcare practitioner. It is intended for the specific dietary
management of a disease or condition.
How can I expect to feel on
this program?
You are a complex and unique individual, and your program should be
designed specifically to meet your needs. How you respond as you use this
product will be determined by your uniqueness (biochemical individuality)
and the program you and your healthcare practitioner establish. Many
people begin to feel better within a few weeks. Some individuals take
longer to notice the improvement, and others may experience some side
effects during a part of their program. When side effects do occur, they
are usually minor. Sometimes, side effects serve a useful purpose of
providing clues to a person’s specific nutritional needs and can be the
basis for further individualized adjustment of the program. It is
important to maintain a close relationship with your practitioner who has knowledge of and experience in nutritional health care. If you
experience any unusual symptoms or unpleasant side effects, be sure to contact
us.
What
if I have additional questions?

Tips
for travel and dining out
A 2-cup plastic container with a secure lid works well
when traveling or you can purchase a tiny portable
battery-operated mixer (found in many kitchen appliance stores or
sections) to use when a blender isn't available.
If you need to take just a few days’ worth of
product, you can pack pre-measured amounts (2 scoops) into small plastic
sandwich bags. You can also pack or purchase bottled water to mix with the
product (bottled or filtered water is preferable to tap water).
While traveling, UltraInflamX makes an excellent breakfast
beverage, a simple morning or afternoon between-meal snack, or a bedtime
snack. The most important thing to remember is to consume two UltraInflamX
beverages. This can be a challenge to maintain while traveling.
When you know you will be eating meals away from home,
plan ahead. Consuming an UltraInflamX beverage as part of the meal may be
inconvenient, so consume the beverage prior to eating out. If you consume
the beverage after eating out, you may find yourself too full or too tired
to do so.
Important:
Do
not pre-mix and save. Product should be consumed within 30 minutes of
mixing for maximum benefit. Any unused mixture should be discarded.
Dietary
program guidelines for
using the Elimination Diet
UltraInflamX is designed to be used with a dietary program
referred to as an anti-inflammatory Elimination
Diet. Research suggests
that many common inflammatory conditions may involve food allergy or
sensitivity reactions, and that removing these foods may result in
improvement. This diet is designed to eliminate foods that have
significant potential to cause allergic or sensitivity reactions. In
addition, it has been designed to include foods that may decrease some
inflammatory reactions. Although UltraInflamX may be used alone, combining
it with an elimination diet program may result in further health
improvements.
The following are general dietary guidelines. Your
healthcare practitioner may change these guidelines based upon your
personal health condition and history.
Eat only the foods recommended in these guidelines. The
Dietary Guidelines chart is intended as a quick overview of the dietary
plan. If you have a question about a particular food, check to see if it
is on the food list. Do not make substitutions except those outlined in
these instructions or recommended by your practitioner. You should, of
course, avoid any foods to which you know you are intolerant or allergic.
 |
Be sure to drink all of
the recommended daily servings of UltraInflamX. This product contains
critical ingredients to nutritionally support your body’s
anti-inflammatory processes. This program is not intended for weight
loss. If weight loss is a goal, work with your healthcare practitioner
on specific menus and calorie limits. On the other hand, if you need
to gain weight, you may increase the frequency and portion sizes of
your meals and snacks, using foods or beverages listed in this guide.
 |
Select fresh foods
whenever you can. If possible, choose organically grown fruits and
vegetables to eliminate pesticide and chemical residue consumption.
Rinse fruits and vegetables thoroughly.
 |
If you select animal
sources of protein, look for free-range or organically raised chicken,
turkey, or lamb. Trim visible fat and prepare by broiling, baking,
stewing, grilling, or stir-frying. Cold-water fish (e.g., salmon,
mackerel, and halibut) is another excellent source of protein and the
omega-3 essential fatty acids, which are important nutrients in this
diet. Fish is used extensively. If you do not tolerate fish, talk to
your healthcare practitioner about possible substitutions. He or she
may suggest supplemental fish oils. Avoid shellfish, as it may cause
allergic reaction.
 |
You may continue to
take nutritional supplements as recommended by your healthcare
practitioner. In some instances, you may be advised to add fiber or
other supplements directly to your UltraInflamX product to make a
healthy shake. As with all supplements and medications, follow the
advice of your healthcare practitioner.
 |
Use only purified,
distilled, or mineral water to mix the beverages. Check with your
healthcare practitioner if you use fruit juices. They are high in
fructose (fruit sugar) and may not be well tolerated. Diluted organic
vegetable juices are generally preferred choices over fruit juice.
Avoid fruit drinks or cocktail drinks that contain added sugar.
 |
Remember to drink the
recommended amount (at least 2 quarts) of plain, filtered water daily.
| | | | | |
 |
It may be necessary to
reduce strenuous or prolonged exercise during part or all of the
program. This may be important to allow the body to heal more
efficiently without the additional burden imposed by exercise.
Adequate rest and stress reduction are also important to the success
of this program.

Suggested
25-Day Step Program
Days 1-2
Start the Elimination
Diet as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Begin by mixing 1/2
scoop UltraInflamX with 2-4 ounces of pure water, diluted non-citrus fruit
juice, or vegetable juice. Consume 2 times daily for 2 days.
Days 3-7
Increase amount to 1 scoop of UltraInflamX mixed with 4 ounces of pure
water, diluted non-citrus fruit juice, or vegetable juice. Consume 2 times
daily, and continue the dietary plan.
Days 8-25
Increase amount to 2 scoops of UltraInflamX
mixed with 8 ounces of pure water, diluted non-citrus fruit juice, or
vegetable juice. Consume 2 times daily, and continue the dietary plan.
Most individuals are able to reach the full dose of two
scoops twice a day within a week. However, each individual is different,
so you may find that the adjustment period is longer or shorter. Most
individuals find it helpful to slowly increase the product amount to give
their bodies a chance to adjust, both to UltraInflamX and to the
elimination of certain foods they consumed prior to the program.
Occasionally, individuals experience some abdominal discomfort in the form
of gas, bloating, or loose stools. This usually eases as your body
adjusts. If you experience symptoms as you increase the dosage, you may
find it useful to return to the previous dose that was comfortable. Take
the decreased amount for a few days before increasing the dosage again.
Note: Your healthcare practitioner may suggest alternative dosing
instructions, dietary modifications, or further nutritional
supplementation. He or she will make these decisions based upon your
individual health issues and response to the program.
Days 26 and beyond
At this point, you will return to NEWS to discuss your response to UltraInflamX. Your healthcare
provider may suggest that you continue the program or diet, use the
product alone, or try another combination. If you together decide to
reintroduce other foods into the program, it is important that you follow
a systematic reintroduction program to determine if you have any adverse
responses to these foods.
Reintroducing
foods
Your healthcare practitioner will advise you when to
reintroduce foods eliminated from your diet. To assess reactions to these
foods, follow this reintroduction procedure:
 |
Ingest the food you are
reintroducing 2 to 3 times in the same day. Continue to eat the other
foods on your diet. Do not introduce any other foods over the next 2
days. During this time, carefully monitor any reactions you experience
to the food you reintroduced.
 |
Record your responses.
 |
Introduce only one new
food at a time. Wait at least 2 additional days before reintroducing
another food you have been eliminating. If you are unsure about a
reaction, test the same food following the same procedure.
 |
Discuss your responses
with your healthcare practitioner. He or she may suggest rotating or
eliminating foods based upon your reactions and history.

General
Questions & Answers
-
Why do I
need this type of diet?
Your healthcare practitioner has determined that some of your
health challenges are associated with an inflammatory process. The
diet in this guide, combined with UltraInflamX™, provides
nutritional support for patients with inflammatory conditions.
-
Can I follow
this diet if I am diabetic or hypoglycemic?
Probably, but you should make this decision with the guidance
of your healthcare practitioner, discussing integration of this
program into your prescribed dietary plan.
-
Can I go on
this diet if I am pregnant or when I am nursing my baby?
No. UltraInflamX has not been tested in these situations;
therefore, it is not recommended for use at these times.
-
Is it an
appropriate diet for children?
No. This medical food product should not be the primary
source of nutrition for infants or children under the age of 12. The
product’s nutritional content is based on adult RDAs, and no testing
in children has been done at this time. However, under the supervision
of a healthcare provider, the product may be appropriate as a meal
supplement for children or adolescents. Your clinician must help you
decide if and how the product may be used with your child.
-
What gives
UltraInflamX its distinctive color?
UltraInflamX contains significant levels of phytonutrients
(plant nutrients), including turmeric, ginger, and bioflavonoids to
nutritionally support you during the program. These plant compounds
provide the deep yellow pigment that contributes to the overall color
and flavor of the product. Be aware that this product may stain
plastic or clothing if not rinsed immediately after contact.
-
Can I exercise
while I'm on this program?
It may be necessary to reduce strenuous or prolonged exercise
during part or all of the program. This may be important to allow the
body to heal more efficiently without the additional burden imposed by
exercise. Adequate rest and stress reduction are also important to the
success of this program.
-
Can I take
supplements while on this diet?
Because these products contain therapeutic levels of
carefully selected nutrients to nutritionally support the body, and
since some supplements may contain allergens that could interfere with
these processes, we suggest following the recommendations of your
healthcare practitioner.
-
What if I need
additional fiber?
On a nutritional program that involves liquid
supplementation, some patients may experience a change in bowel
habits. Clinical experience has shown that, for some people, an
additional fiber supplement may reduce symptoms of diarrhea or
constipation. Your health practitioner may recommend a low-allergy
potential fiber supplement.
-
UltraInflamX is
my primary source of protein; could I become sensitized to it?
This medical food product should not result in food
intolerance. Due to the very low-allergy potential of rice protein
concentrate relative to other vegetable grain proteins, this product
has been tolerated well by individuals who have previously been
sensitive to grain-based proteins.
-
Can I
substitute other medical foods for UltraInflamX in this program?
No. UltraInflamX is a medical food product with specific
nutrient levels that provide the body with essential carbohydrate,
protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, and other phytonutrients to support
the body’s anti-inflammatory processes. Additionally, UltraInflamX
is made from an exclusive, patented rice protein concentrate carefully
selected and blended to ensure the highest quality medical food
product possible. Because UltraInflamX is unique and supported by
clinical and research experience, recommendations in this guide apply
only to this product.
-
How long do I
need to remain on this program?
Clinical experience suggests that patients usually experience
benefits within four weeks of the program. Your healthcare
practitioner may, on further assessment, suggest that you continue the
program longer to obtain or sustain these benefits.
-
How is this
medical food different from the other UltraBalance® medical food
products?
Although UltraInflamX is made from the same high quality,
patented rice protein concentrate as UltraClear®, UltraClear PLUS™,
and UltraClear SUSTAIN®, it contains additional specific nutrients
and phytonutrients targeted to nutritionally support the
anti-inflammatory processes.
-
Can I use
UltraInflamX at the same time as UltraClear or UltraClear SUSTAIN?
Yes, although your health practitioner will determine which
products and programs are best suited to your individual needs.
-
How many
canisters of UltraInflamX will be needed to complete the 25-day
program?
Typically individuals need three canisters. However, this
depends upon how rapidly an individual advances in the Step Approach.
-
What should I
eat when I've completed the program?
Once you have completed this program, your practitioner will
reassess your health and determine whether you should continue with
other supplements or dietary changes, continue to use UltraInflamX, or
use one of the other UltraBalance® medical food products. It is
suggested that you add a variety of whole, healthy foods, carefully
observing and recording your response to each new food. Avoid or
minimize your consumption of the potentially pro-inflammatory foods
such as fatty animal products, fatty dairy products, peanuts,
processed foods, processed fats/oils, alcohol, coffee, or any other
foods to which you react adversely.
-
There seems to
be some "grit" at the bottom of the glass when I consume
this product. Is this alright?
UltraInflamX is blended well during manufacturing, but the
minerals and phytonutrients may not stay suspended when mixed with
liquid. Please be sure to consume all of the beverage.
-
Should I
discontinue prescription medications while on this program?
No. Medications should be No. Medication should be carefully
monitored by your health practitioner. Only in conjunction with him or
her should you make a decision to change a prescriptive medication.
-
This product
seems expensive. Why is this?
UltraInflamX is made from the highest quality ingredients,
researched and manufactured with exacting standards. The product is
guaranteed for freshness and potency. The makers of UltraInflamX have
an uncompromising commitment to producing a product of unmatched
quality and integrity. Although it may seem expensive, because it can
be used as a meal replacement, many people actually find their grocery
bills decrease substantially while on the program.
